September has been a relatively quiet month in Pattaya, particularly for nightlife, with local bar and venue owners talking about a difficult low season.
But quiet doesn’t mean nothing is happening.
There have still been new openings, new venues getting ready to launch and other changes worth knowing about – from Walking Street and Soi 7 to restaurants and venues elsewhere around the city.
Here’s what’s new in Pattaya this month.
The Party opens on Walking Street
One of the more ambitious new nightlife venues in Pattaya has now opened on Soi 15, Walking Street.
The Party began its soft launch in earlier this month and has been promoting itself on social media, with a three-level concept that includes a go-go bar, karaoke rooms and a rooftop swimming pool.
The venue is a sizeable addition to Soi 15 and certainly isn’t trying to be just another small Walking Street venue.
It’s worth keeping an eye on as all three levels become fully operational.
Mirage 555 is now open
If you’ve been following our earlier post about Mirage 555 Agogo, the wait is over.
The new venue opened on Walking Street in September, taking over the former Skyfall site.
The interior retains some of the feel of the previous venue but has been given a substantial makeover, including new lighting and LED features.
So, another familiar Walking Street location has a new name and a new operator.
Sexy Dolls brings an Asian-style club to Walking Street
Another new addition to Walking Street is Sexy Dolls Nightclub Pattaya.
The venue describes itself as an Asian Club Style venue featuring Asian music, live DJs, dancers and nightlife.
Its social media presence also uses Chinese-language content, and the overall presentation is noticeably different from the traditional Walking Street go-go bar.
It’s probably best thought of as an Asian-style club/hybrid nightlife venue rather than trying to squeeze it into the usual Pattaya nightclub or go-go categories.
New bars appear on Soi 7
Soi 7 has also seen some movement, with Dream Bar joining the recently opened Mystic Bar.
The two venues are next to each other and are both owned by Nick Dean.
Mystic Bar opened earlier in the summer, while Dream Bar has been getting ready to launch during September.
It is another small sign of new investment in an area that has seen plenty of changes over the past year.
Soi 21 Bar Club – one we missed
Here’s one that should probably have appeared in an earlier What’s New post.
Soi 21 Bar Club has actually been around since the middle of the year, with a July social media post announcing that the venue was open.
Information about the bar is still relatively limited, but it now has an active Facebook presence and appears to be establishing itself on Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 21.
So rather than calling it a September opening, we’re filing this one under “one we missed.”
Sandman Sports Bar closes after almost 10 years
Not every change this month is an opening.
Sandman Sports Bar on Soi 6 has closed, with the owner announcing on August 26 that he had sold the bar and that it was his final day.
After almost 10 years, the announcement marked the end of an era for one of the better-known sports bars on Soi 6.
The former owner thanked customers for their support and said he hoped to stay in contact with the people he had met through the bar.
It will be interesting to see what eventually takes over the space.
KINUJO Beach Club opens in Na Jomtien
Moving away from nightlife, there’s a rather different new addition just south of Pattaya.
KINUJO Beach Club at The Panora Estuaria in Na Jomtien began its soft opening on September 11, followed by its grand opening on September 19.
The French/Japanese-influenced venue combines a beach club and pool setting with food, wine and café offerings.
It’s another example of the continued development of the Na Jomtien coastline into a destination in its own right, rather than simply somewhere to pass through on the way to Pattaya.
Cote Maison arrives on Beach Road
A newer restaurant worth knowing about is Cote Maison Pattaya, a French-inspired restaurant and steakhouse on Beach Road.
The restaurant opened recently and has already begun attracting visitors looking for something a little different from the usual tourist-strip dining options.
It isn’t a September opening, but it’s new enough to deserve a mention in this month’s roundup.
One to watch: Onlyfuns on Soi 6
There are also rumours of more changes coming to Soi 6.
Onlyfuns has been reported as preparing to open, but at the time of writing we haven’t found enough official information to confirm that it is already operating.
For now, consider this one coming soon rather than open.
We’ll update when there is something more definite to report.
24 years of Shark Club
And finally, something that isn’t new at all — but is worth mentioning precisely because of how long it has been around.
Shark Club Agogo on Walking Street celebrated its 24th anniversary on September 18.
The club marked the occasion with a celebration on Walking Street and described it as 24 years of creating nights and memories in Pattaya.
Twenty-four years is quite an achievement in Pattaya nightlife.
The city has always had plenty of venues that open with a lot of attention and disappear a few months or years later. Names, owners and concepts change constantly, particularly on Walking Street.
So a 24th anniversary is a useful reminder that, despite all the turnover, some venues really do stick around.
Congratulations to Shark on reaching the milestone.
Pattaya is quiet right now – but always changing
There’s no need to pretend September has been a spectacular month for Pattaya nightlife.
The low season has been noticeably quiet, and many people working in the nightlife industry have been saying the same thing.
But that’s different from saying that nothing is happening.
Walking Street has seen several new major venues appear, Soi 7 has new activity, Soi 6 continues to change and there are new restaurants and beach-club concepts appearing outside the traditional nightlife areas.
At the same time, established venues such as Shark Club continue to demonstrate that Pattaya nightlife isn’t entirely about constant turnover.
