If you’ve never watched a Muay Thai fight in Thailand, this Saturday offers an easy opportunity to give it a try — and it won’t cost you anything.
MAX Muay Thai and Central Pattaya are hosting the opening stage of the MAX 4 MAN Central tournament on Saturday, September 19, with free entry.
The event takes place in the Sunken Beachfront Area at Central Pattaya, the outdoor area in front of the mall. It’s right in the centre of Pattaya, so you can easily drop in without having to make a special trip to one of the city’s dedicated Muay Thai stadiums.
And you don’t need to be a serious fight fan to enjoy it. Muay Thai is exciting to watch live, with the atmosphere, crowd and pace of the fights making it an interesting experience even if combat sports aren’t normally your thing.
With free entry and a central location, this is a particularly easy way to experience Muay Thai while you’re in Pattaya.
What’s happening?
The main attraction is the MAX 4 MAN tournament, with the headline tournament bouts taking place in the 54kg division.
The main event is:
Rotgas Akebangsaen vs Bunlengsak Saksompong
There’s also a 67kg co-main event featuring:
Leo Sor.Monphichit vs Knoah Solomon
The programme includes five additional Thai and international bouts, making for a full evening of Muay Thai rather than just the headline fights.
You don’t really need to know the fighters or follow the tournament closely to enjoy the event. If you’re curious about Muay Thai, you can simply turn up, find a spot and watch the action.
Part of a four-stage tournament
Saturday’s event is Stage 1 of the MAX 4 MAN Central tournament.
The four stages are being held at Central shopping venues:
- September 19: Central Pattaya – Stage 1
- September 26: Central Si Racha – Stage 2
- November 7: Central Ayutthaya – Stage 3
- November 21: Central Marina Outlet – Stage 4
So this isn’t a one-off event. The September 19 event in Pattaya kicks off a four-stage tournament, with the final stage returning to the Pattaya area at Central Marina Outlet in November.
