Soi Buakhao Pattaya – The Real Heart of the Action
If you’ve spent any time in Pattaya beyond a quick visit, there’s a good chance you’ve ended up on Soi Buakhao.
It’s not the most famous street in the city, and it’s rarely the first place people hear about, but in terms of variety, value, and the sheer number of places, it arguably has more going on than anywhere else in Pattaya.
This is where many visitors eventually gravitate to, especially on longer stays.
What Is Soi Buakhao Like?
Soi Buakhao runs roughly parallel to Beach Road and Second Road, cutting right through the central part of Pattaya.

At first, it can feel a bit chaotic and unpolished. Parts of the street have little or no pavement, traffic can be tight, and it doesn’t have the same purpose-built feel as somewhere like Walking Street.
But that’s also part of its appeal.
This is a street that feels lived-in. Busy, slightly rough around the edges, but full of energy and packed with places to stop at every few metres.
Why Soi Buakhao Is So Popular
What makes Soi Buakhao stand out is the sheer density and variety of places to spend some time.
You’re not just dealing with one type of nightlife or one type of venue. You’ve got:
- Live music bars
- Classic Pattaya beer bars with bar girls calling you in
- Nightclubs and Go Gos open until early morning
- Gentlemens Clubs
- Affordable restaurants (both Thai and Western menu)
- Street food areas
- Low budget and mid-range hotels
- Entire entertainment zones branching off the main road
And because there are so many options, it’s the kind of place where you can have a completely different night every time without really planning anything.
The Different Areas Around Soi Buakhao
One of the key things that makes this area special is that it isn’t just one street, it’s a network of them. In reality, most nights on Soi Buakhao end up involving at least one of these areas.
LK Metro
A compact, highly concentrated nightlife area just off Soi Buakhao. Often considered a smaller, more relaxed (and less expensive) version of Walking Street, with Go Gos, bars and clubs packed closely together. (See the full LK Metro guide )
Tree Town
One of the most popular areas on Soi Buakhao, built around an open-air layout of bars, restaurants, and live music venues. Tree Town really came into its own around the COVID period and has since become a central hub for nightlife, especially for those who prefer a more casual, social atmosphere.
Running off Soi Buakhao are several smaller streets (“sois”), each with its own character. The most well known ones are probably Soi Diana, Soi Honey, Soi Pothole and Soi Lengkee, but we’ll look at these in a bit more detail further down the page.
Together, these areas create what is effectively the largest entertainment zone in Pattaya.
Who Comes Here (And What It Feels Like)
Soi Buakhao has a slightly different make-up when it comes to the people you’ll see.
It’s especially popular with longer term visitors, return travellers, and expats – people who already know Pattaya a bit and tend to stick around a little longer. That mix gives the area a more relaxed, familiar atmosphere, where things feel a little less rushed and a bit more social.
It’s generally a bit of an older crowd than Soi 6 or Walking Street (often 40+) but not exclusively so. You’ll still see a mix of ages, especially in places like Tree Town, LK Metro or the live music venues.
The overall vibe is more relaxed and less flashy than Walking Street. People come here to settle in, not just pass through.
Live Music & Nightlife Highlights
One of Soi Buakhao’s biggest strengths is its live music scene.
Rock Factory
Probably the most well-known live music venue in the area. Expect proper bands, full sets, and a heavier rock/metal edge. This isn’t background music, it’s the main attraction.
Matador
More classic rock-focused, often loud, and usually busy. A solid option if you want familiar songs and a lively atmosphere.

Trench Town
A slightly different feel, with a loose reggae influence. Not a pure reggae bar, but more laid-back and a bit less intense than the rock venues.
Scooter’s Bar
A niche but interesting spot with a strong 60s/70s mod and northern soul vibe. Something a bit different from the usual Pattaya scene.
Triangle Bar (on Soi Chaiyapoon)
A very popular live music bar playing classic hits every night until late. Consistent, reliable, and usually a good crowd.
Rock Station (in Tree Town)
Another strong live music option, with classic rock covers and a more open-air setting.
Ju Ju Nightclub
For those who want a late finish, this is one of the places that keeps going until 5 or 6am. Less glamourous than Walking Street clubs, with a more mature crowd.
Food on Soi Buakhao
Food is another area where Soi Buakhao really shines, especially for value. You’ll find a mix of:
- Cheap Thai food
- Classic Western comfort food
- Casual restaurants
- Street food
Buakhao Market Street Food Area
Near Soi Chalermphrakiat 19, this covered street food section is one of the best places for inexpensive Thai meals. It’s simple, local, and very affordable.

Don’t confuse it with the main Buakhao Market at the southern end of Soi Buakhao, which is more of a traditional market selling clothes, bags, and general goods as well as food.
Popular Western & Casual Dining Spots
- Cheap Charlies – brightly lit, casual, and very popular with expats
- Hungry Hippos – another long-time favourite for Western food
- Prime Burger – one of the better burger options in the area
- Witherspoons – relaxed pub-style dining
- Jolly’s – simple, reliable comfort food
- Bronx Pizza – good for a quick, casual meal if you fancy a pizza
For something a bit more relaxed, places like Katesiree House and Nikom Court are great for sitting with a drink and watching the street go by.
The Beer Bar Scene
Soi Buakhao is full of classic Pattaya beer bars. If you’ve been to one, you’ll recognise the format: open-front bars, music, friendly bar girls, and a very easygoing atmosphere.
What makes this area different is the sheer number of them. We won’t list them all here, but some you may come across include Paradise Bar, Happy Apple, Vice City, Honey Corner, Lek’s Classroom, Candy Club, The Black Minou and Red Hot Girls.

Instead of committing to one place for the whole night, it’s very easy to move around, stop for a drink, and see where the night takes you. That flexibility is a big part of the area’s appeal.
The Side Sois (Worth Exploring)
Some of the smaller streets branching off Soi Buakhao are destinations in their own right:
Soi Diana
A good mix of bars and hotels, with newer places like Las Vegas Beer Garden offering a more relaxed, open layout. Nikom Court on the corner is good spot to grab a drink and people-watch. Soi Diana is also home to popular mid-range hotel Areca Lodge.

Soi Honey
A more nightlife-focused soi, with many late-night venues and a busy atmosphere after dark. Soi Honey is home to Hunny Lounge Gentlemen’s Club, Lips Lounge and popular bars like Voodoo and Amnesia. Honey Boutique Hotel has affordable 3 star accommodation.
Soi Chaiyapoon (Soi Pothole)
Packed with bars and clubs, including live music at Triangle Bar at the Soi Buakhao end. Soi Pothole has some popular gentlemen’s clubs including High Rollers, OXO and the famous Maggie May. There are also a couple of ladyboy bars: Jie Jie and Bradleys.
Soi Lengkee
Soi Lengkee has quite a few popular places to eat including Kungs Restaurant, Chomp and The Devonshire. There’s also one of Pattaya’s most well known gentlemen’s clubs La Poste, and Heat Lounge A Go Go. Plus watering holes including Monna and German bar OneDerLand.
Soi Made in Thailand
Home to Maggie Mays Beer Garden (not to be confused with the Maggie May Gentlemen’s Club on Soi Chaiyapoon). Golden Beach Hotel is a very affordable 4 star hotel. Soi Made in Thailand leads on to Soi Myth Night where you’ll find the Myth Night Bar complex.

Soi Boomerang
Soi Boomerang is home to a couple of Pattaya’s top-rated venues – Heaven Above Gentlemen’s Club and Play Girlz A Go Go. A smaller soi, but still well worth a look if you’re exploring the area: it’s opposite the Debua Hotel on Soi Buakhao.
Things to Be Aware Of
Soi Buakhao isn’t exactly perfect, and it’s worth knowing a couple of things before you go:
- Pavements can be limited – you’ll often be walking close to traffic
- It can feel a bit chaotic – especially at night
- It’s less polished than Walking Street (but that’s also part of the appeal)
Despite all that, everything seems to work pretty well. People adjust quickly, and Soi Buakhao has its own rhythm.
Is Soi Buakhao Worth Visiting?
Absolutely. In fact, for many people, this becomes their favourite part of Pattaya.
It might not have the immediate impact of Walking Street, but it offers something arguably more valuable: variety, flexibility, and a more relaxed way to enjoy the Pattaya nightlife.
If you only visit Pattaya briefly, you might miss it. If you stay a little longer, there’s a good chance you’ll end up here anyway.
Soi Buakhao: a Quick Summary

- A huge variety of bars, food, and nightlife
