The Lowdown
Tunnel Club is one of Walking Street's newer arrivals, having opened in November 2022 directly opposite the strip's McDonald's landmark. It built its identity around hip-hop and urban music at a time when most of the street's bigger venues were leaning EDM and commercial dance, and that positioning has stuck — Tunnel is generally regarded as one of the go-to spots on Walking Street for hip-hop fans specifically. The venue is noticeably smaller than the Walking Street superclubs like Republic or Insomnia, with no oversized video walls or elaborate production. For some visitors that might be a drawback; for others it's the appeal — the smaller footprint makes for a more intimate, dancefloor-focused night rather than one built around table service and VIP displays. The lighting and sound system are still a step up from a typical bar, just on a different scale to the street's flagship venues.
Musically, the main focus is hip-hop, rap and R&B, possibly with some house, EDM and chart tracks mixed in depending on the DJ and night. Live performers and dancers feature as part of the regular entertainment, alongside the resident and rotating DJ line-up. You may find some of the Bangkok DJs and MCs playing here.
The crowd at Tunnel tends to be a bit younger than at some of Walking Street's longer-established clubs, and the venue has a reputation for being more about the music and dancing than the freelancer scene that's more prominent at places like Insomnia — though as with any Walking Street club, freelancers are still very much present. Friday and Saturday nights bring the biggest crowds and strongest DJ line-ups, with the venue filling up late and hitting its stride from 1am onward.
Tunnel's own Instagram lists opening from 1am, though earlier reports from its launch described the doors opening as early as 9pm — it's possible the hours have shifted since opening, or that they vary by night. There's no confirmed closing time; some accounts describe it running into the early hours, but we couldn't verify this directly, so it's best to treat any specific late closing time as unconfirmed.
Entry is free with no dress code, and the venue is easy to find given its position directly across from McDonald's.
