Moon Whale Rooftop Bar

A low-rise rooftop with a big Pattaya Bay view.

Moon Whale is a stylish rooftop bar on the 3rd floor of Royal Garden Plaza, offering wide-open views across Pattaya Bay despite its relatively low elevation. Rather than trying to compete with Pattaya's high-rise hotel rooftops, Moon Whale has developed its own identity around sunset views, cocktails, music and a relaxed but distinctly cool atmosphere.

Music is a big part of the experience. DJs are featured throughout much of the week, with the programming leaning towards house, funky house, nu-disco, Afro house and more soulful and jazzy styles rather than mainstream club music. Some evenings also feature live saxophone, while percussion is added to selected DJ sets. The music programme changes regularly, so it's worth checking Moon Whale's social media for the current line-up.

The rooftop is particularly appealing around sunset, when the elevated position gives you a broad view over the bay. Later in the evening, the atmosphere becomes more of a drinks-and-music destination, with cocktails and other drinks served until late.

Food is also available through the other venues operating within the same rooftop destination. Maha Thai offers Thai food, Nonna & Son serves Italian dishes, and Shaloba by The Sea provides coffee and daytime drinks. Moon Whale says guests can mix and match from the different venues and have orders brought to their table, making it possible to combine dinner and drinks without leaving the rooftop.

Moon Whale also runs regular drinks promotions, including happy-hour offers on cocktails and beer, although these change from time to time.

Best for: sunset, cocktails, DJs, music, sea views and a more stylish evening atmosphere.
